Your diet did not fail because you lack discipline
Eleven days is the median survival of a plan that requires separate cooking. Here is what actually predicts adherence, and none of it is willpower.

I have read a great many diet plans written by other people. The bad ones share a structure: a grid of meals, portions in grams, and a list of foods to avoid. They are written as though the reader lives alone, cooks for one, and has an evening with nothing in it.
The four things that actually predict whether a plan holds
- Whether it uses food that is already cooked in your house. Every new ingredient is a decision, and decisions are the scarce resource.
- Whether it survives your worst week — the deadline, the wedding, the child with a fever.
- Whether anybody else in the household has to change what they eat. If your mother has to cook twice, the plan is finished by day twelve.
- Whether you understand why each change is there. Instructions without mechanism get dropped the first time they are inconvenient.
What I do differently, concretely
The first plan I write usually removes nothing. It changes the order of the plate, adds a protein source to breakfast, and puts a hard floor under one meal. That is it. Three changes, chosen because they are the three with the best ratio of metabolic effect to household disruption.
A plan you follow imperfectly for a year beats a perfect plan you follow for eleven days. This is not a compromise. It is the entire strategy.
Month two is when we get more ambitious, and only because month one has proven what you will actually do. Anyone writing your full twelve-month protocol on day one is writing fiction, and charging you for it.
